Is Santa Claus real?

We all have wondered whether Santa Claus is real? When I was young I used to be very exited on Christmas, I always thought that Santa would visit me and give a gift that had wished for. All the children have fascination towards Santa, We all know that on Christmas Eve Santa Claus is said to make lists of children throughout the world, categorizing them according to their behavior, and to deliver presents, including toys and candy, to all of the well-behaved children in the world, and coal to all the misbehaving children.

The legend of Santa Claus is hundreds of years old, the man behind the story was St. Nicholas.  It is believed that St. Nicholas was born sometime around 280 A.D. in Patara, near Myra in modern-day Turkey. Over the course of many years, Nicholas's popularity spread and he became known as the protector of children and sailors.
St. Nicholas is admired for his piety and kindness there are many stories about him one of the famous stories is the time when he saved three poor sisters from being sold into slavery or prostitution by their father by providing them with a dowry so that they could be married.
The name Santa Claus evolved from Dutch nickname, Sinter Klaas, a shortened form of Sint Nikolaas. In 1804, John Pintard, a member of the New York Historical Society, distributed woodcuts of St. Nicholas at the society’s annual meeting. The background of the engraving contains now-familiar Santa images including stockings filled with toys and fruit hung over a fireplace.
Santa Claus is popular all over the world and there are different stories behind the origins of Santa.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.
